Reading Reflection 2

1) How to Fail Almost Everything and Still Win Big. It essentially tells us that you cannot be successful by following a step by step guide. It comes from making mistakes and watching others helps you minimize mistakes.

2) A large point in the book is that failure is normal and essential to learning and to growth. One cannot always be winning over and over. I applied this to my business that we started because when you get bad criticism you just take it and help you to make a better plan.

3) This book highlights some of the basic skills needed for success of a business, and I would make an assignment that talks about ones strengths and weaknesses and whether they can help or not in a real setting.

4) The biggest moment in the book was how Adam said that passion is not it to be successful. You need the energy in you so that you can turn that passion into more than just a feeling. I agree because although I am passionate about my sciences, sometimes I do not want to get ready for an exam because those are not in my interest.

  1. Hi Hassan,
I like your idea about finding our strengths and weaknesses, it kind of reminds me of the human capital assignment we did. I think that evaluating whether our strengths are actually useful is very important because sometimes the skills we value in ourselves don't actually help us that much. I also agree that energy can turn into passion, if you don't even have the energy to pursue something then why are you doing it.

  2. Hi Hassan,

Failure is something that we all are afraid of to a certain extent because we don’t like admitting when we are wrong or don’t want to look stupid in front of everyone else. It’s great that you’ve learned to accept criticism to help you improve your plan, but it’s important to remember to never take it personally. I’ve learned this the hard way so now I just listen to what the other person has to say and decide which parts of the criticism I can use to improve upon myself or my idea.

  3. Hassan,

The great entrepreneurs and inventors of the past never accomplished anything or succeeded without failing multiple or many times. Failing allows someone to see what they did wrong and how they can fix it and improve. Failing, in my opinion also builds toughness and endurance by building up a habit of not giving up and to keep pushing. I think you can definitely use themes and messages from this book for your idea.
